Teadirect is a high quality, full-flavoured black tea blended to give a traditional English taste.
Each bag contains 440 tea bags. A wonderful, rosy, and chestnut brew direct from fair trade producers to you.
About the Producers: The teas are sourced from fair trade producers in central Tanzania, south western Uganda and central Kenya. Tea is an important crop for many people in the region but tea prices are so low that many growers live in grinding poverty. Tea bushes take several years to mature and simply growing something else is often not an option for these specialist farmers. Furthermore, tea farmers are very dependent on the black tea factories that process their tea. The green leaves must be processed with 24 hours of being picked or the quality becomes very poor. This leads to unfair practices with tea factories driving down prices knowing that farmers have no choice but to sell.
About the Supplier: Teadirect is different. Producers benefit from higher prices, better trade terms and advance payments if needed. Even better in Uganda and Kenya, the tea growers now own the tea factories, allowing them to not only get paid for the crop, but also get a share of the factory profits at the end of the season.
