Artizan International
Artizan International, established in 2013 by Susie Hart MBE, is a dynamic social enterprise based in Harrogate, dedicated to empowering people with disabilities in the UK and developing countries. Building on Susie’s previous work in Tanzania, where she launched Neema Crafts to provide training and employment for individuals with disabilities, Artizan International aims to replicate this transformative model. The organisation delivers therapeutic craft activities and skills training, helping artisans showcase their abilities and earn a sustainable income. By focusing on empowerment and inclusion, Artizan International creates opportunities for people to overcome social isolation and achieve economic independence.
In the UK, Artizan International offers free weekly craft sessions, providing a welcoming space for adults with disabilities to learn new skills and connect with others. Overseas, the organisation collaborates with local communities to establish similar programmes that uplift individuals, turning marginalisation into meaningful employment and social recognition. Through its initiatives, Artizan International strives to build a more inclusive society where people of all abilities are respected and valued as creative contributors. The organization’s mission is to change perceptions, foster dignity, and enable everyone to reach their full potential through the power of creativity and social enterprise.
